SMART Goal Setting

The purpose of this activity is to work on team building by creating SMART goals for recruitment, fundraising, community engagement, and brigade participation. All volunteers should contribute to this conversation!

Building Group Dynamics: Ice Breakers

Use this list of Ice Breakers to get to know members of your chapter, build teamwork and set expectations for the coming year.

Pre-Brigade Reflection Activity

Reflect and discuss individual and group expectations for everyone’s role and experience on brigade.  This reflection will act as a precursor to the on-brigade nightly reflections that the group will have in order to think critically about their experience and actions in-country.

Drawing Twins Activity

This activity should illustrate how hard it is to give clear instructions as well as how hard it is to listen, and can also show how things are easily misunderstood and misinterpreted. This activity is focused on communication and listening and would be great to do with a Leadership team.

Four Corners Activity

This activity will help you better understand your team members, learn to listen and share opinions that may differ  from your own or connect with each other on shared ideas or beliefs. This is an effective activity to discuss possibly controversial topics, and provide visual cue to each other to see the distribution of varying opinions within the group.
