Be a Global Brigades Leader

Global Brigades Leadership Institutes take place in Honduras and last for one week during the summer. Leadership Institutes are designed for passionate leaders who are interested in international development and looking to grow the Global Brigades movement on their campus. During the Institute, volunteers participate in health and economic development projects implemented by Global Brigades through our Holistic Model. Participants will network with Global Brigades staff, and go through leadership workshops that will enhance their strength as leaders and expand their ability to start Global Brigades Chapters on their campuses.

The following individuals are encouraged to apply:

  • Undergraduate students looking to bring Global Brigades to their campus
  • Current or aspiring Global Brigades Campus Chairpersons
  • Current or aspiring Global Brigades Chapter Leaders

Leadership Institute –
7 Day Sample Schedule

The Leadership Institute itinerary was built for passionate individuals who have limited schedules during the academic year and more flexibility during the summer. After arriving and resting on day one, participants then begin learning about Global Brigades’ Holistic Model, going on community visits to experience how the health and economic programs support one another, and how all programs contribute to Global Brigades’ sustainable transition plan for partner communities. During community visits, participants learn about the infrastructure that ensures program sustainability, like the year-round Monitoring and Evaluation program. Participants will work closely with community leaders and Global Brigades staff to complete a variety of projects, including follow-up reports and new community assessments. Each evening, volunteers will participate in workshops and reflections built to foster discussions on complex issues surrounding health and development work.

2018 Program Contribution

Leadership Institute volunteers fundraise for their individual program contribution. Each program contribution includes ground transportation, food, lodging, emergency medical insurance, translators, and support staff. Airfare is not included.

You will need to provide contact information for one reference and an electronic copy of your resume to apply.
