HEALTH CARE ACCESS
There is no health center located in the community of San Antonio de Oriente. If community members need medical attention, they must walk five kilometers to the Centro Integral de Salud in El Jicarito.

San Antonio de Oriente is located within the municipality of San Antonio de Oriente in the department of Francisco Morazán in central Honduras. Children in the community have access to primary school, or up to sixth grade. There is an existing water system in the community that connects approximately ninety percent of the homes; however, the water is not chlorinated prior to distribution and this must be done at the household level. Most of the community members work in agriculture or as day laborers. The top needs expressed by San Antonio de Oriente’s inhabitants during their initial communications with Global Brigades include in-home public health infrastructure, medications for the local health center, and improvements to the community’s water system.
