Overview

Duck Run III is a village in the Cayo District of central interior Belize, Global Brigades began working in Duck Run III in 2024. There is not health facility in this community, people have to go to San Ignacio city for public hospital which is about 37 km away from the community. The service at this hospital is very poor, it is always at full capacity and it has limited medications. People from Duck Run III prefer to go to private Mennonite clinic in Spanish Lookout village which is about 6 km away and they pay $60 per medical consultation. The most common illnesses in the community are fever, diarrhea and flu.

Most houses are made of wood and cement blocks. People drink purchased filtered water. System water is chlorinated but not filtered so it is not safe for drinking or cooking. There is a very little agriculture, community members have permanent jobs in Spanish Lookout village, there are people interested in opening a business but they do not have capital to do so.
