European Student Leadership Conference

Each year, Global Brigades hosts a European leadership conference for student leaders to share best practices, meet with staff to discuss programs and gather with other passionate leaders.

September 1, 2018 | London

The 8th annual 2018 European SLC will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Imperial College London.

The conference will bring together students, staff and volunteers from across the European network to discuss important topics with Global Brigades staff and board members. This year’s conference will focus on developing your role as a leader within Global Brigades, and also include discussion of the latest updates from GB. Together we will explore what makes a brigade tick, from the start of the process at the beginning of the academic year, to the follow up after the brigade and the establishment of a new leadership team for the process to be repeated the next year!

Registration costs £10 per participant and the deadline to register for the European SLC is Monday, August 20, 2018.

Conference Details


The 2018 European Student Leadership Conference will be held at the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College London. The main conference activities will be held in Room G01.

Transportation & Lodging

GBUK is excited to offer travel scholarships to the conference to ALL members of university leadership teams. Please keep all receipts and you will be reimbursed accordingly. GB UK is not able to cover accommodations. We recommend Hostel World if you require overnight accommodations.


On Saturday, September 1, Global Brigades will provide lunch and dinner for conference attendees. For attendees with allergies or special dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration and we will try our best to accommodate.

Gain a more in depth understanding of the programs that make up our holistic model of sustainable development.

Learn more about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how they align with our strategy as an organization.
12:45pm Lion’s Club International Introduction
Meet our partner Lion’s International and learn more about our collaborations.
1:00pm Lunch & Networking
Lunch provided by Global Brigades.
2:00pm Activity: MyGBStory
Reflect on the ethical considerations of posting photos of your brigade, and learn about how you can share your GB Story.
2:30pm Breakout: Chapter Best Practices
Network and share best practices in regards to recruitment, fundraising & leadership transitions.
3:30pm Activity: Leadership Development
Reflect on your leadership style and develop your skills to strengthen GB on your campus.
4:00pm Campus Action Plans
With all of your new insights and ideas, make a plan for the upcoming year.
4:30pm Country Breakouts
Join the GB UK AGM or meet up with fellow leaders from GB Germany or GB Ireland.
4:45pm Chapter Awards & Closing Remarks
The conference will close with the recognition of Chapters and Leaders with Awards for their accomplishments over the 17/18 year.
5:00pm Campus Chairperson Training (Campus Chairpersons Only)
Campus Chairpersons will end the day with additional training to equip them for the upcoming year.
6:00pm Dinner
Dinner provided by Global Brigades. Group will meet for dinner (location TBA)
7:30pm Alumni Event
Join GB CEO Shital Vora and GB UK Alumni to celebrate our accomplishments at Bill’s (Kensington High St.).
