An international role that is responsible for executing organizational goals focused on year round volunteer engagement, organizational growth, and creating external brand awareness. Working closely with the Chief Operations Officer, Marketing Manager, Chapter Advisors and fellow VEAs (Growth & Engagement team), the Volunteer Engagement Associate focuses on high level chapter development, Student Leadership Conference planning, and lead generation. The Volunteer Engagement Associate will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as they become available.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Campus Chairperson Program

  • Maintain the Campus Chairperson base year to year by facilitating strong leadership transitions and executing various retention initiatives
  • Grow the Campus Chairperson program by identifying new Campus Chairpersons through various recruitment initiatives
  • Lead and facilitate monthly Campus Chairperson committee meetings (~3-5 committees per VEA)
  • Empower and support Campus Chairpersons to represent their campus, unite and empower their chapters, and grow the GB movement by providing mentorship and guidance as needed
  • Maintain existing Campus Chairperson program materials and create new content as needed

Regional & National Global Brigades Student Leadership Conferences

  • Recruit, identify and support regional conference hosts (~5 SLCs annually per VEA)
  • Attend & lead coordination of regional conferences in conjunction with Campus Chairpersons by creating conference web pages, coordinating recruitment efforts, curating itineraries, ensuring logistics are executed, and presenting/leading conference activities
  • Attend GB national conference and support in planning and execution

Global Brigades Brand Awareness & Lead Generation

  • Seek relevant external conferences and attend identified conferences, as approved
  • Through conference attendance, distribute Global Brigades marketing materials and speak passionately about the organization to garner potential new leads and partnerships
  • Track and report lead conversions to appropriate team members

Global Leadership Institutes

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Institute Committee (Chapter Advisors/Program Associates) to successfully execute Global Leadership Institutes in Honduras, Panama, and Ghana
  • Create objectives and itinerary for evening leadership activities (and attend 1-2 Institutes/VEA to facilitate evening activities)

Global Brigades Week

  • Idea development related to themes, on campus engagement activities, and social media campaigns
  • Support in creation of GB Week Guide

Marketing Support

  • Create content for social media/blog posts that highlight the volunteer movement on campus
  • Develop marketing content and materials for all aforementioned initiatives (SLCs, GB Week, Leadership Institutes, etc.) for distribution by Marketing Manager

 

The Volunteer Engagement Associate reports directly to the Volunteer Engagement Manager.

Minimal Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or educational equivalency required
  • Previous leadership experience as Campus Chairperson required
  • Organized, with an ability to identify new projects and prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Comfortable speaking in public and engaging at events
  • Flexible and able to accommodate a busy travel schedule
  • Strong communication skills; able to work in a virtual environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite  and Google Drive
  • Competencies should include creativity, critical evaluation, customer service, teamwork, and ethical practices

 

Compensation and Logistics:

  • Staff member is based in USA
  • Monthly Salary
  • Receives work computer (Chromebook) and cell phone subsidy
  • Emergency Travel Insurance provided
  • Eligible for health insurance subsidy up to $150/month (restrictions apply)
  • Frequent travel to campuses, conferences, and in-country engagements is expected- VEA team travel budget provided
  • Reimbursements provided for Spanish lessons or other professional development activities
