Global Brigades is an international non-profit that empowers communities to meet their health and economic goals through university volunteers and local teams. We work alongside rural community members to achieve their core development goals through integrated health, water and sanitation, and economic development programs. Based on its Holistic Model, Global Brigades’ mission is to sustainably transition out of each community once it has met development objectives relying on both the strong buy-in of the community members and a dedicated in-country staff.

This role will support Kambia, Global Brigades’ sister organization that works with University Faculty to bring international project-based learning directly to their students.

Purpose Statement:

The PROGRAM ASSOCIATE (PA) is responsible for the successful preparation of the Kambia programs in Panama, Honduras, Ghana, Guatemala, Belize or Greece, and the retention of the groups. This role is designed to work as the link between Lead Faculty/Teachers, students, and the in-country teams.  As part of the role, the PA will also support high quality program implementation of the in person and virtual programs ensuring optimal student experience. The PA role description tasks can be classified under three main categories: Kambia & Squad Preparation, Lead Retention, Program Development and Program implementation.

Kambia and Squad Preparation
PAs take Lead Faculty & Teachers through the Planning Timeline to prepare for their upcoming in-person or virtual program. The PA acts as a liaison between groups and local staff, providing necessary information to the in-country logistics teams to support the work with GB partner communities. This requires constant communication between all parties and updating internal supporting documentation.

Retention
PAs take the faculty/teacher leaders through the retention process once a program finishes  to make sure the group comes back for a future program. This relationship management is supported greatly by CRM (Hubspot) tools and use.

Program Development
PAs are also responsible for working alongside programming staff members to help ensure an optimal student experience. The PA supports content creation for volunteer/student preparation and communicates programmatic changes as well as creating/maintaining marketing collateral that support the advocacy of the program.

Program Implementation
PA is responsible for working alongside in-country teams in the program implementation, either for virtual or in person programs, as a coordinator, translator or client liaison.

The PA reports directly to the GB Program Associate Manager and indirectly to the division Director of Kambia.

Daily Tasks and Expectations (include but not limited to):

Kambia & Squad Preparation (60%)

  • Facilitate the Kambia & squad planning process and timeline for assigned groups through email communication, calls with Google Meets, and being a general resource to teachers and faculty
  • Support Lead Faculty & Teachers in the kambia/squad planning process including: Flight Booking, Logistics, Funding/payments follow up, and Program Preparation (Rosters, Education and pre-departure information)
  • Prepare and host informational calls and virtual presentations throughout each individual group kambia/squad planning timeline
  • Monitor and manage all kambia/squad funding commitments creating invoices and using the Global Brigades MyBrigades system, working closely with the Accounting team to track and document funding, as needed
  • Educate and prepare students for Kambia/Squads experience
  • Prepare and host program preparation webinars
  • Routinely communicate with Faculty, Teachers, students, parents,  through email, phone, and video calling
  • Content development (Marketing Materials, Arrival Packets, Educational Charla Packets, etc.)
  • Visit assigned groups in-country to facilitate a PA talk, receive feedback, discuss future programs, and program development
  • Support emergency response involving sick/injured students alongside qualified local staff
  • Collaborate with Kambia/Squads team and in-country teams to plan, prepare, and coordinate yearly engagement opportunities, such as Ambassador Programs, Open Houses or conferences


Lead Retention (20%)

  • Manages Kambia/Squads retention by maintaining strong relationships with lead faculty / teachers after they have completed their program by encouraging future squads/kambia planning.
  • Ensuring quick follow up times and frequent touch points with leads and contacts.
  • Support in the creation of strategic workflows to drive retention.
  • Maintain communication processes for engagement and retention in Hubspot CRM.
  • Ensure program feedback is collected and reviewed.


Program Development (20%)

  • Support Kambia/Squads and in-country program teams in program preparation, growth, and development
  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation team in providing community and student data and summaries from Kambia/ Squad visits
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team  in social media submissions (i.e. photos, brigade/squad stories, etc).
  • Assist in training local brigade/squad staff for preparation and on-kambia/squad expectations (i.e. coordinator trainings, all-hands meetings)
  • Attend weekly team meetings to hear updates and collaborate on new initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Program Implementation (30%)

  • The PA contributes to the correct implementation of in person and virtual programs at different capacities
  • Facilitate engaging interactions with students, and ensure that all participants comply with their assigned tasks virtually, or inside and outside of the communities and in different lodging facilities
  • Facilitate discussions, using interpretation and/or translation, oral and/or written, when needed, between beneficiaries, participants and staff.
  • Point of contact regarding the program implementation for other members of staff and lead faculties. Therefore, maintain continuous communication. This includes informing them about any updates to itineraries or changes in them so that they are prepared in advance. 


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 3.0 GPA or educational equivalent
  • Strong passion and ability to communicate Global Brigades’ holistic model
  • Fluency in English is required, role will require the majority of communications to be in English
  • Reliable internet and the ability to work from home
  • Experience with CRM (Hubspot) preferred

  • Strong English language skills, both written and oral
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to match the  Global Brigades/Kambia/Squads voice, message, and branding guidelines
  • Demonstrate empathy and advocacy
  • Strong fluency in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meets, Google Slides)
  • Able to spend extended periods of time seated while traveling to/from communities and lodging facilities, and participating on brigade in rural partner communities
