Title: Marketing Associate
Commitment: Full Time

Purpose Statement: A role that is responsible for executing organizational goals focused on program awareness, growth, and execution specifically through social and web media channels. This includes developing, monitoring, and tracking content and campaigns across blogs, social media platforms, emails and online community platforms to effectively promote and highlight Global Brigades, Kambia and Squads Abroad programming initiatives. The Marketing Associate will primarily focus on supporting Global Brigades and sub-brands Squads Abroad and Kambia in 7 key areas of Social Media, Blogs, Content Development, Graphic Design, Website Updates, Email Communications and Online Community Engagement.

The Marketing Associate reports to the Director of Communication.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Social Media and Blog (50%)

  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Communications to support Social Media Platforms: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo for Global Brigades, Squads Abroad, and Kambia
    • Curate and post content within the structure of the editorial calendar
    • Source ongoing and unique campaign content from internal staff and external stakeholders
    • Actively seek user-generated content from program participants
    • Lead engagement on all social media platforms with an emphasis on building a strong community of volunteers
    • Respond to direct messages and comment engagement 
    • Record, track, and report engagement and growth metrics
  • Create and upload blog content to the Kambia, Squads Abroad and Global Brigades websites with the support of the Communications Director
    • Work with our international staff to develop stories and reports on our work abroad
    • Highlight impact, volunteer engagement and news mentions

 

Online Community Engagement (50%)

  • One of our brands, Squads Abroad, is excited to launch a new online community of high school students passionate about international medicine. Your role will be to provide this community with exciting content (photos, stories, resources, etc.) and communicate with this community of students through email, direct messages and posts
  • This community is built in Disco, and following your training you will be responsible for managing the Disco platform alongside the Communications Director

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 3.0 GPA or educational equivalent
  • Strong passion and ability to communicate Global Brigades’ holistic model
  • Experience working with Canva and other design tools
  • Strong communication skills; must be comfortable writing and speaking in English
  • Able to work remotely and maintain regular, consistent working hours (Monday-Friday, in the window of ~8am-6pm local time) and adhere to virtual work policies

 

Compensation and Logistics:

  • Full time (40 hours per week)
