Global Brigades Student Leadership Conference hosted by University of Toledo

Each year, Global Brigades aims to host Student Leadership Conferences that are regionally based across the USA and Canada. Student Leadership Conferences are a great opportunity for students leaders to share best practices, meet with staff to discuss programs and gather with other passionate leaders.

A Student Leadership Conference will take place on Saturday, April 11th, 2020 at the University of Toledo.

This Student Leadership Conference will bring together students, staff and volunteers primarily from the Midwest of the United States to engage in a day filled with leadership training, presentations, breakout sessions and exciting discussions. Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to meet fellow leaders, volunteers, GB staff members, and to share best practices and get exciting programming updates. This year’s conference will also feature two University speakers discussing sustainability and the importance of public health!

The deadline to register for the University of Toledo SLC is Monday, April 6th, 2020.

Venue

The Student Leadership Conference will be hosted on the University of Toledo campus in the Lancelot Thompson Student Union, Rooms 2584 and 2582.

Transportation & Lodging

Global Brigades is not able to provide transportation or lodging to conference attendees. However, we recommend the following for affordable accommodations: Hampton Inn & Suites (3434 Secor Road), Quality Inn (3560 Secor Road), and Red Roof Inn (3530 Executive Parkway).

Meals

Global Brigades will provide a light breakfast and a full lunch for conference attendees. For attendees with allergies or special dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration and we will try our best to accommodate.

Dress Code

Conference dress code is casual.

10:30am Keynote Speaker
This year’s keynote speaker will talk about sustainability inside and outside the context of Global Brigades. More details to come.
11:30am Lunch and Networking
12:30pm Keynote Speaker
Our second keynote speaker will speak on public health. More details to come.
1:30pm Breakouts: Holistic Model
During this session, we will explore the different sectors of the holistic model and how they work together.
2:30pm  Breakouts: Campus Impact & Action plans
During these breakout sessions, we will discuss scaling Campus impact, addressing common critiques, and campus best practices.
3:00pm Presentation: Social Media & Ethical Photography
GB Director of Marketing will present on best social media practices and lead an activity.
4:00pm Closing Remarks
