Global Student Engagement Conference 2019

Each year Global Brigades hosts a student leadership conference in Pittsburgh to share best practices, meet with staff to discuss programs and impact, and network with other passionate leaders.

This year’s 3rd annual Global Student Engagement Conference will take place on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at University of Pittsburgh.

For the third year in a row, Global Brigades is partnering with International Service Learning and other student leaders to host a conference with the purpose of bringing together student-led international service organizations and other interested students, to foster conversations to improve our international footprint. The first half of the conference will be focused on topics that apply to students interested in international service, including ethical service practices, current events, the history of U.S. involvement abroad, as well as speakers’ experiences pertaining to global health and politics. The second half of the conference consists of the annual Vision Station Screening Conference, run by the University of Pittsburgh Chapter of Global Medical Brigades. The Vision Station Screening Conference will include discussions of the history of this station, how to run a vision station and what you will need, current issues and monopolies within the eyeglass industry that affect the accessibility of eyeglasses around the world, and how we can improve it.

Registration Information: If you are attending the morning portion AND afternoon portion (vision conference), there is a 6.00 registration fee (includes a t-shirt). If you are only attending the morning portion, there is no registration fee. Please indicate your preference on the registration form. The deadline to register for the event is Sunday February 3, 2019.

This year’s conference will be held in the Kurtzman Room of the William Pitt Union.

Meals

Global Brigades will provide breakfast and lunch for conference attendees. For attendees with allergies or special dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration and we will try our best to accommodate.

Dress Code

Conference dress code is casual.
