Northeast Regional Student Leadership Conference

Each year Global Brigades hosts a student leadership conferences around the US, Canada & UK to share best practices, meet with staff to discuss programs and impact, and network with other passionate leaders.

April 13th, 2019 | Boston, MA

The 4th annual Northeast Regional SLC will take place on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at Boston University

This year’s conference will bring together volunteers, staff, and GB USA board members to engage in a day filled with leadership training, presentations, breakout sessions and discussions. Throughout the day we will focus on developing your role as a leader within Global Brigades, thinking critically about sustainable development, sharing best practices, and providing the latest updates from GB. We are excited to welcome three special GB staff members to share their passion and insight throughout the day: International Program Officer Pablo Garron, Sr. Marketing Manager Alexa Boldt, and Volunteer Engagement Manager Nicole Jollimore.

The deadline to register for the conference is April 1st, 2019. Your $8 registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, conference t-shirt, all conference materials and some other fun giveaways.

Conference Details


The 2019 Northeast Student Leadership Conference will be held in the Photonics Colloquium Room (PHO 906) at 8 Saint Marys Street, Boston, MA 02215.

Transportation & Lodging

Conference attendees should organize their own transportation to and from the conference. If you need to stay overnight in Boston and would like to be hosted by a Boston University student, please indicate upon registration. There is limited availability, and requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.


Global Brigades will provide breakfast and lunch for conference attendees. For attendees with allergies or special dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration and we will try our best to accommodate.

Dress Code

Conference dress code is casual. GB branded clothing is always encouraged!

Meet Global Brigades Staff, GB USA board members, and fellow leaders and review conference objectives.
9:30am Breaking the Poverty Cycle
Learn about how sustainable development is a continued effort and how GB is breaking the cycle from GB International Program Officer, Pablo Garron.
10:00am Understanding the Holistic Model
Gain a more in depth understanding of the programs that make up our holistic model of sustainable development.
10:30am UN SDGs & The Empowered 100
Learn more about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how they align with our strategy as an organization.
11:00am Breakout: Chapter Best Practices 
Rotate through sessions and share best practices with fellow volunteers and leaders. 
12:00pm Lunch & Networking
Lunch provided by Global Brigades.
1:00pm Leadership & Team Building
Kick off the afternoon with some energizing leadership and team building activities to get to know the leaders in your area and build lasting relationships.
1:30pm Impact & Updates
Hear International Program Officer Pablo Garron recap our 2018 impact and share some exciting highlights from each of our programming countries: Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua & Ghana. 
2:00pm Breakout Session: Critical Thinking
Dive deeper into sessions focused on thinking critically about sustainable development. 
3:00pm #MyGBStory
Reflect on the ethical considerations of posting photos of your brigade and learn about how you can share your GB story with Sr. Marketing Manager Alexa Boldt. 
3:45 pm Campus Action Plans
Take some time to consolidate all of your new insights and ideas into concrete action steps moving forward. 
4:00pm Closing Remarks 
The conference will close with some final thoughts and thank yous!
