You’re invited to the 3rd annual 2018 West Coast SLC on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at University of Victoria!
The conference will bring together volunteers, staff, and board members to engage in a weekend filled with leadership training, presentations, breakout sessions and discussions. Throughout the day we will focus on developing your role as a leader within Global Brigades, thinking critically about sustainable development, sharing best practices, and providing the latest updates from GB.
There deadline to register for the conference is Sunday, November 4, 2018 and your registration at the conference includes breakfast & lunch, a t-shirt, all conference materials and some other fun giveaways!
The conference will be held in a building on the University of Victoria campus. Specific rooms TBA.
Conference attendees should organize their own transportation to and from the conference.
If you require accommodations we are please to offer free accommodations with a UVIC student (indicate your interest in registration form).
Global Brigades will provide breakfast and lunch for conference attendees. For attendees with allergies or special dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration and we will do our best to accommodate.
Conference dress code is casual (GB clothing always encouraged!)

Gain a more in depth understanding of the programs that make up our holistic model of sustainable development.
|10:30am||Presentation: GB Past, Present & Future
Review the timeline of how Global Brigades grew from a small grassroots movement to a student led sustainable development organization and where we are headed in the future!
|11:00am||Breakout Session: Chapter Best Practices
Rotate through sessions and share best practices related to fundraising, recruitment and leadership transitions.
|12:00pm||Lunch & Networking
Lunch provided by Global Brigades.
Take some time to reflect on what it means to be a global citizen and stay engaged year round.

Meet our partner organization and learn about our collaborations.
|2:30pm||Breakout Session: Critical Thinking
Dive deeper into topics related to the importance of empathy in sustainable development, how to address common critiques, and ethically sharing your story.
|3:30pm||Presentation: GB Impact & Updates
Get up to speed with all things Global Brigades as you head into the 18/19 academic year!
|4:00pm||Activity: Leadership Development
Work individually and in a group to learn more about the type of leader you are, and strive to be.
|4:30pm||Final Action Plans
Condense all that you’ve learned into some solid action steps moving forward.
The conference will close with some final thoughts and thank yous!
