Global Brigades offers 9 different 7-9 day brigade programs in Ghana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, addressing needs in health and econcomic development. Each program has been developed in conjuction with community members and students to empower community members and leaders, while engaging students to deliver high impact solutions. Brigade Sustainability and Exit Strategy
Between brigades, Global Brigades full-time staff on the ground made of foreigners and locals, work together to provide follow-up and ultimately work toward the goal of supporting communities to become independent of the resources provided by brigades. Through a combination of selected programs and supplementary projects, each community has a unique plan to empower community leaders and build community infrastructure to become sustainable and no longer need the assistance of brigades. In 2012, Global Brigades successfully transitioned from its first community, Zurular in Honduras.
How to Get Involved
The first step is to look through each of the 9 Global Brigades programs and determine which program best fits your interests. Once you have found your program, select the "Join A Brigade" subtab under your program. You will find a search bar to find a chapter on your campus or near you. If there is already a chapter on your campus, proceed to their Chapter Page to learn more about their upcoming brigade and join. If your campus does not have a chapter for your program of interest, you have the opportunity to start your own chapter and lead a brigade! Global Brigades will assign you with an experienced Advisor who will guide you through the process.
